Theresa Ogbekhiulu is a passionate racial equity advocate, social researcher, and strategic EDI leader. She currently serves as a Senior Advisor for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at the Environment Agency, and formerly held a similar role at Swansea University, where she led key racial justice initiatives and the Race Equality Charter application.
Theresa brings a strong background in policy, governance, and inclusive education, having developed anti-racism training, decolonisation resources, and student engagement programmes in higher education. She is now preparing to pursue a PhD in Sociology.
Beyond academia, Theresa is a Non-Executive Director at Swim Wales and a swim teacher with the Black Swimming Association, committed to breaking racial barriers in sport and expanding access to aquatics for ethnic minority communities.
She also serves as a school governor and trustee, and has received national recognition for her work, including awards from Black History Wales, the National Union of Students, and a feature on the BBC, and ITV. As a Fellow of Advance HE, Theresa is dedicated to advancing equity across education, sport, and governance.
